Most of $10 million in legacy money must go to youth programs: Krueger
Arts groups, still reeling from deep cuts to their funding, should expect $10 million in government legacy money this year to be mostly earmarked for youth programs, says the B.C. arts minister.

Spencer Chandra Herbert was one of several politicians spotted at the rally held today (April 10) to protest budget cuts made by Premier Gordon Campbell’s B.C. Liberal government.
After the rally at the Vancouver Art Gallery wrapped up, the NDP MLA for Vancouver-West End told the Straight why the arts are important to B.C. and why he thinks the funding cuts are taking the province in the wrong direction.

- The involvement of an appointed official of government, a friend of B.C.'s ruling party.
- An indiscreet phone call, words of concern, and then a large donation.
- Suggestions of impropriety.

B.C.'s registrar of lobbyists has opened a file on the activities of the chair of the Insurance Corporation of B.C., T. Richard Turner, in connection with the major casino development project planned for downtown Vancouver, CBC News has learned.
Turner has been at the centre of controversy since late March when it was revealed that he made a call to provincial Tourism Minister Kevin Krueger regarding the new $450-million casino and entertainment complex to be built next to BC Place stadium.
